Rublev Wax Paste is a professional-quality, beeswax-based paste that enhances body, extends drying time, and reduces sheen in oil colors. It’s also useful when making oil paints — add no more than 20% when grinding pigments to help achieve a smooth, workable texture and prevent oil separation.

As a protective coating, Wax Paste can be applied over picture varnish to reduce gloss or protect against dirt. It is removable and replaceable without disturbing the underlying varnish. Its low-luster finish minimizes highlights on textured surfaces. It can also be added to natural and synthetic varnishes to achieve a uniform satin finish.

Ideal for cold wax painting and encaustic-like techniques, Wax Paste can be gently heated or softened with mineral spirits or turpentine, allowing it to be mixed with oil paints or dry pigments. As the solvent evaporates, the wax hardens to a durable, beeswax-like finish.
