Rublev Conservar Finishing Varnish is a colorless, reversible varnish that’s made according to the original recipe of E. René de la Rie, a conservation expert formerly of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. What makes this formula unique is its longevity; it will not crosslink or yellow for over 100 years.
Conservar Finishing Varnish acts as a final, protective layer for oil and alkyd paintings, protecting them from dirt, dust, and the harmful effects of UV light. The formula, which can be brushed or sprayed on, dries to film that levels well and can be rubbed when dry to reduce gloss. The varnish is removable with odorless mineral spirits.
