About this product range
Grumbacher Academy Acrylics are a line of collegiate-grade, medium bodied acrylic paints available in an array of brilliant colors, including the most sought-after traditional colors, process colors, metallic colors, and iridescent colors. Developed in collaboration with world-class pigment suppliers, the number of pigments in individual colors are reduced, ensuring cleaner mixes and more accurate color matching without sacrificing tinting strength, opacity, or lightfastness. All colors have an ASTM lightfast rating of ‘Excellent’ and are labeled AP. Academy Acrylics are highly pigmented and offer superior tinting strength at a student-friendly price.

- Dianisidine Orange is a semi-opaque orange dye that can be laked to form a pigment. This pigment ranges from yellowish to reddish orange in different laked forms.
- Permanence
- Dianisidine Orange has only fair lightfastness.
- Toxicity
- A Japanese study in which rats were given large daily doses of Dianisidine Orange revealed no acute toxicity or mutagenic effects.
- History
- Dianisidine Orange is used mostly in coloring plastics and in inks, in applications where safety is important but lightfastness and longevity are not paramount.

- Properties
- This Naphthol Red is an intense scarlet red pigment that is heavily staining. It has an average drying time. It is semi-transparent and has relatively poor covering power.
- Permanence
- This Naphthol Red has been rated as having excellent lightfastness under ASTM testing, but other testing methods have demonstrated some tendancy for the color to fade with exposure to strong ultraviolet light. It has been considered a replacement for less lightfast naphthol reds such as PR3. Not suitable for exterior use.
