Schmincke Acrylic Gesso is a white, semi-transparent primer for oil colors, acrylic colors, and pastels. Highly absorbent with a surface similar to half-chalk grounds, it can be applied in thin, undiluted layers or diluted with up to 10% water. Tint with acrylic colors to create a colored ground. Gesso Primer dries to flexible, matte film that is lightfast and water-resistant. Highly absorbent surfaces such as raw canvas should be primed prior to application for best results.
