- Extends paint and forms impastos
- Makes colors slightly transparent
- Perfect for layered techniques
- Dries to a matte finish
Rublev Underpainting Transparent Base is a fast-drying, alkyd paste medium that can be used as a preliminary layer for your paintings to improve adhesion and create depth. When mixed directly with oil paints, it extends oil colors and makes them slightly transparent. The medium quickly dries to a matte sheen, making it perfect for layering techniques. It can also be thinned with mineral spirits or linseed oil for varied textures.
