Turner Japanese Colors are an extension of the Turner Acrylic Gouache range, inspired by Japanese traditional paintings, or 'Nihonga', which are typically executed on Japanese paper or silk. The Japanesque range includes 69 colors, all of which are opaque, matte acrylic paints with a slightly coarse consistency. This texture is designed to mimic that of traditional Japanese paints, which are made from crushed mineral pigments, shells, corals and even semi-precious stones (like malachite, azurite and cinnabar) in a hide glue binder. This is a hand-painted color chart which will provide an exact guide to the shade and luster of each color in the range.
