Utrecht Artists’ Oil Colors are handcrafted using the finest pigments and pure drying oils. Produced entirely in-house at our Brooklyn mill, these paints deliver intense color and exceptional purity. With pigment loads that exceed most mid-tier oils, Utrecht rivals leading professional brands in both performance and quality—at a significantly better value.

All colors are traditionally milled in small batches on a three-roll mill. Pure linseed oil is used as the vehicle across the line, except for the three Whites, Cadmium-Free Yellows, and Cerulean Blues, which use safflower oil to preserve brilliance. A focus on single-pigment formulations results in clean, accurate color mixtures.

Every color is rigorously tested in both lab and studio settings for tint strength, undertone, and historical accuracy. Most colors carry the highest lightfastness rating, and each tube is finished with a true paint swatch. Eight Cadmium-Free colors match the permanence and opacity of their cadmium counterparts while offering enhanced color spacing and brilliance.
