About this supply

Join artist Mark Entwisle for Watercolour Portraiture, a two-part watercolour workshop taking place on Saturday 17 and 31 October 2026, 10.30am–4.30pm at Jackson’s Art Dalston, London. This two-session programme explores observation, colour, and form, helping participants develop their approach to portraiture from drawing what they see to bringing a face to life in watercolour.

Mark will begin with observational drawing, focusing on proportion, verticals and horizontals, and the underlying structure of the head. You’ll then explore colour mixing, skin tones, complementary colours, light, and shade before bringing these elements together to develop your own watercolour portrait.

Session 1 – Observation, Structure & Colour

Saturday 17 October 2026, 10.30am–4.30pm. Practise drawing what you actually see rather than what you think you know. Explore proportion, alignment, and the underlying structure of the skull before introducing colour mixing, skin tones, and complementary colours.

Session 2 – Form & Portrait Painting in Watercolour

Saturday 31 October 2026, 10.30am–4.30pm. Explore how tone, light, and shade describe form, then bring together your observational drawing and understanding of colour to develop your own watercolour portrait.

Both sessions are booked together as one programme, with the second building on the first. The price includes both sessions and places are limited. All materials and refreshments are provided for both sessions.
