Blick Essentials Gloss Glazes deliver bright, true color, smooth application, and consistent results at a price that keeps studios stocked—trusted by instructors, studio potters, and hobbyists for years. True-to-jar color means what you paint is what you fire, making it easy to visualize how your finished piece will turn out. The self-leveling formula glides smoothly onto bisque and fires to a high-gloss finish without visible brushstrokes, no clear glaze required. Quick-drying for same-day firing, two to three coats give full opaque coverage.
Optimal for low-fire applications, apply to cone 04/03 earthenware bisque and glaze fire to cone 06/05. Colors stay vibrant, even on red clay. The glazes can also be applied to wet or leatherhard clay. Brush on 2–3 coats over the entire piece, leaving the back or bottom unglazed for outgassing, then allow the clay to dry completely before firing.
Blick Essentials Gloss Glazes also perform well at mid-range. Applied to soft-fired stoneware bisque and glaze fired to cone 5/6, most colors hold much of their original value, though darker colors (greens, reds, blues, oranges, purples) may darken and lightly pigmented colors (pinks, yellows, tans, lighter purples) may fade. Color performance at cone 6 is noted on each label. We recommend testing on your preferred clay body and firing temperature prior to use.
Low-fire ware is not recommended for use as ovenware.
