Da Vinci Artissimo Kolinsky Red Sable Brushes are designed for optimal versatility, with elegant handles and an exquisite shape. These generously sized, French-style brushes absorb water beautifully and hold an impressive amount of color, allowing the springy tip to draw fluid strokes across an entire sheet. They’re an excellent choice for watercolor, gouache, calligraphy, and India ink painting.

To maximize color retention, the soft kolinsky red sable hair is embedded in a transparent plastic quill and then secured to the wooden handle with expertly hand-wrapped copper wire. This allows liquid to flow freely along the brush hairs while retaining the brush’s hand-trimmed shape.

The wood used for the handles is sourced exclusively from sustainable European forests and tumble-finished with lacquer for a glossy look. Made in Germany.
