Matisse Transparent Gesso - 250 ml, Jar

Specially formulated to be mixed with [Matisse Background Colors Acrylic Paints](https://www.dickblick.com/products/matisse-background-colors-acrylic-paint/ "Matisse Background Colors Acrylic Paints"), Matisse Transparent Gesso is the perfect primer for paints and other media that need a base with extra roughness, or “tooth”.

Combine one part Transparent Gesso with two parts Background Colors to create a colored primer. Add more gesso (up to equal parts) to vary the tooth for a variety of media. Apply the mixture to paper, board, or canvas to create a brilliant surface. It also tightens canvas to make the surface firmer.

Ideal as a primer for soft and oil pastels, this flexible gesso makes paint manipulation easier. It shows little to no brush strokes when applied straight from the bottle.
