A unique fusion of watercolor and gouache, Schmincke Horadam Naturals are made exclusively using natural earth pigments, plant extracts, or plant resins. The range is 100% vegan and features 16 colors based on historical and naturally derived pigments.

Horadam Naturals have a matte finish and offer an authentic character. Colors are mostly semi-transparent with good lightfastness (15 colors with 3-5 stars lightfastness). They can be mixed and combined with watercolor and gouache and used straight from the tube or diluted with water.

The aspiration for a vegan and naturally formulated watercolor and gouache fusion, leads to properties that distinguish this paint from a pure watercolor or gouache. It therefore takes a certain amount of familiarisation and understanding of the characteristics that distinguish these colors. The natural pigments used in this range are sometimes slightly coarser in texture which results in a rougher, slightly granular surface effect. The consistency of the paints is a little thicker, so the colors do not flow as easily as watercolor and are more like gouache. Anyone who makes use of these distinctive properties will quickly learn to appreciate the special nature of the Naturals range.
