Derwent : Compressed Charcoal : Medium

Derwent Compressed Charcoal is a solid stick of pure, reformed wood charcoal for bold, expressive drawing. Use the side for wide sweeping strokes and broad shading, then switch to the end for finer lines and crisp accents. These sticks are perfect for standalone work or combining with other charcoal tools.

One of the most traditional drawing materials, this charcoal produces deep, dense, matte tones with a character quite different from graphite. Naturally watersoluble for atmospheric washes, it’s available in three versatile grades - light, medium, and dark - so you can control contrast and build tonal depth with ease.
