About this supply

Join Evie Hatch, Studio and Materials Specialist at Jackson’s and co-creator of the Pigment Stories book and online series, for The Impressionist Palette: New Pigments for Modern Painting on 7 October 2026, 7pm–8:30pm at Jackson’s Art Dalston, London. This relaxed evening workshop explores how developments in nineteenth-century chemistry transformed the colours available to artists and helped shape modern painting.

Discover the new blues, greens, yellows and violets adopted by Monet, Manet, Morisot and their contemporaries, and learn how ready-made paints and portable metal tubes changed where artists could work, making painting materials more convenient and accessible.

Evie will also look at the lasting legacy of these innovations, exploring which nineteenth-century pigments remain familiar on artists’ palettes today and which have since been replaced.

About Evie Hatch

Evie’s interests lie in the history and characteristics of artists’ colours and materials, research that plays a significant role in her own art practice.
