Khadi : Mitsumata : Nepalese Washi Paper

<p>Khadi Mitsumata Washi is a handmade artist’s paper made from the inner bark or bast fiber of the mitsumata plant. Lighter in tone and softer than lokta, mitsumata produces a refined surface suited to a range of delicate and expressive techniques.</p> <p>Known as argeli in Nepal, mitsumata is native to the Himalayan foothills and is a sustainable, renewable resource. The plants are cropped above ground level and can be reharvested after three to four years. The paper is made using the Japanese nagashizuki dipping and layering method, resulting in a strong yet supple sheet with traditional character.</p>
