Tri-Art : Sludge : Gesso : 500ml

SKU ATMSG500

Tri-Art Sludge Gesso is an economical acrylic ground and neutral-toned paint made from solids recovered from the wash water generated during Tri-Art’s acrylic paint manufacturing process. These materials are reprocessed into thick and thin acrylic paint formats, allowing Tri-Art to keep the wash water used in production out of the local sewage system. Sludge can be used in place of gesso when a muted base is required. Semi-opaque and generally grey in tone, it can also be used in small amounts as an opacifier or medium-toned color extender. The recovered solids give Sludge a light tooth, making it suitable as a ground for mixed media applications. Made with 100% acrylic emulsion, it has similar handling properties to conventional acrylic paint. It adheres well to a variety of surfaces, dries to a water-resistant, semi-gloss finish, and can be applied with standard painting tools. The recovered solids consist primarily of assorted pigments, calcium carbonate, colored Mylar, mattingagents, and dried acrylic particles, which provide the color of the product. Sludge can be used as a paint, primer, or painting medium. Please note, no two batches are identical, so Tri-Art identifies each edition by its batch number rather than assigning a color name. Sludge is available as a Gesso and in Thick and Thin formats. This is a 500ml jar of Tri-Art Sludge Gesso.
