Blackwing Volume 458 Birding Pencils offer a colorful tribute to our feathered friends and those who study their beauty from afar. They feature four limited-edition gradient finishes inspired by North American birds—the Clark's Grebe, Mallard, Green Jay, and Black Rail—and a black foil-stamped "458," which references the estimated number of migratory bird species in the region.

Ideal for writing or sketching, the balanced graphite core is similar to a 2B grade pencil, producing smooth, dark lines that resist smudging better than softer leads. California incense cedar wraps the Japanese graphite in a roll-resistant, semi-hexagonal casing that sharpens quickly and evenly to maintain a durable point.

Each box contains 12 unsharpened, soft-touch lacquered pencils with Blackwing's signature flattened ferrules and replaceable, rectangular erasers in bright hues.
