Schmincke : Watercolor Ox Gall

Schmincke Watercolor Ox Gall is a natural wetting agent for degreasing of undercoats before painting with watercolors or gouache. It is designed to improve the flow, wetting, and absorption of watercolor paints on paper. A few drops added to water or directly to the paint help colors spread more evenly, especially on hard or heavily sized surfaces, enhancing blending and wash techniques.

Used sparingly, it is also suitable as a leveling agent for watercolors. Dissolved ox gall tends to flocculate (suspended particles clump together) after long storage, but does not influence applying this medium.
