Painting Watercolor Snow Scenes the Easy Way : Book by Terry Harrison

Painting snow in watercolor is a tricky business: it is necessary to proceed carefully, ensuring that areas of shadow are colored correctly – snow is almost never white – while also making use of the natural brightness of the paper. Add too much paint and your crist, pristine snowfall can turn into a dirty, slushy mess. In this well-illustrated and clearly-written manual, the artist and tutor Terry Harrison shares his techniques for painting realistic snow scenes. Advice is given on the following subjects:

• mixing colors for snow scenes
• choosing brushes
• using dry-brush techniques
• painting from photographs
• executing Christmas scenes
• adding finishing touches
