Karol Pomykala : Dot Tool : Wooden Handled

Created by artist Karol Pomykala to solve a problem with cutting regular dots in his linocuts, these beautifully crafted tools are hand-sharpened to the perfect angle for this task and come with either a lightweight waxed oak handle or a balanced steel handle. The Dot Tool can be used on lino, vinyl, metal, and plastic.

Karol Pomykala says, "When I started my adventure with point linocut, I discovered (to my surprise) that there were no needles on the market that would let me cut perfect dots.

Reaching for half measures often ended in sore hands and frustration, because the effects were far from ideal. For years, I’ve been looking for a tool that would finally allow me to comfortably create and implement my ideas. By trial and error, I constructed various types of chisels and needles, experimenting with the shape of the handle and blade angles.

Finally, I’ve managed to design the perfect tool for my creative work, which I gladly share with you.

Every needle is handmade with the utmost care. The right angle of sharpening allows the needle to make the points the ideal size and depth. The needle is small and very light, not to tire out the hand. Thanks to the special shape and size, the working process is easy and gives a lot of satisfaction."
