Ampersand's Value Series Artist Panels are crafted specifically for students, hobbyists, and budget-minded professionals. These ready-to-paint primed panels are made with top quality materials. They are less susceptible to moisture and never sag or stretch like canvas. Cradled panels are ready to hang, framed or unframed.

Primed Smooth surface panels are made with high density fiberboard (HDF) and coated on all sides with premium, acid-free acrylic gesso primer. The silky-smooth, semi-absorbent ground is excellent for painting in oils, acrylics, and waterbased media, as well as for drawing. It's also ideal for mounting papers, ink jet prints, photos, and canvas. The 3/8" depth includes a keyhole slot for easy hanging; the 1/8" depth of the Smooth Panel is flat on the back. The cradle support frames are made using solid pine for maximum stability. Fully primed edges offer the option to wrap your images around the sides of the panel.

Canvas Texture surface panels feature medium density fiberboard (MDF) coated with premium, acid-free acrylic gesso. The canvas-like surface provides a bit of brush drag for superb control, and results in brighter, truer-looking colors. This panel is able to support heavy paint layers in oil or acrylic, including palette knife painting and other vigorous techniques. It's also perfect for mixed media applications, collage, and assemblage. The cradle support frames are handmade using birch plywood and are left unfinished.
