First introduced in 1925, Sennelier Extra Fine Gouache has been a favorite of illustrators and designers worldwide for its strong opacity and smooth matte surface. Recently updated and expanded, the line now reflects more than a century of Sennelier pigment innovation.

Colors are more brilliant and consistent, offering greater opacity and an exceptionally uniform, ultra-matte finish—made possible by the addition of superfine calcium carbonate sourced from recycled organic eggshells. Of the line’s 63 colors, more than 30 are made with a single pigment for clean, accurate mixing, and over 40 align with Sennelier’s professional watercolor palette, seamlessly bridging transparency and opacity.

Formulated with maximum concentrations of extra-fine Sennelier pigments, the gouache has a creamy, controlled flow that works equally well for broad, flat fields of color or razor-sharp detail. Once dry, it rewets cleanly without streaking or loss of brilliance—a hallmark of Sennelier’s binder research and pigment processing. Most colors carry excellent lightfastness for professional use across illustration, fine art, and design.
