Schmincke Horadam Naturals Watercolors are a distinctive range of vegan, naturally derived colors featuring pigments sourced from plants, earth, and rocks. In addition to classic colors, such as Yellow Ochre, the range includes colors such as Turmeric, Indigo, and Madder—rare in modern professional palettes, but known to artists and craftspeople worldwide for centuries. While natural colors may lack the lightfastness of modern synthetics, they have a unique and subtle beauty that is irreplaceable and unique to find in such an artist-friendly format.

Additionally, Naturals includes mineral colors—but unlike the earth pigments typically found in artists’ colors, which rely on highly processed and standardized earth pigments, Schmincke has selected less-processed, single-origin pigments for the Naturals line. These colors retain more of their original character, offering subtle variations of texture inside each tube. Unlike traditional watercolors, Horadam Naturals are free from animal products. The binder, composed of simple and time-tested gum arabic, ensures effortless dilution and reactivation with water after drying.
